I was lucky to get Esperansa as a young puppy, hoping she would turn into a beautiful show dog. You never really know what a puppy is going to turn out like, but I had my fingers crossed. She sure seemed to me to be showing signs very early that she had all the right stuff. Her attitude was wonderful. I had a little trouble training her to walk on
a lead but I made a game out of it and soon she was walking right beside me and indeed her topline was dead level, her gait perfection and she would stack herself perfectly when we stopped. She would stand on a table for anyone to go over her.
At six months old, it was about time for the Specialty's in Florida and we decided to go and I made the decision to enter her in the Sweepstakes and puppy classes. In her first show in Sweepstakes when Breeder Judge Barbara Bedsted awarded her
the First Place Ribbon I was so proud of her. Her Breeder and my best friend, Carl Yochum was there too and I was so happy for him too that she had done so well. Barb told me that she was the perfect "Duo Purpose" Bitch. That you needed a bitch that could be a show dog first and then when it was time to breed her she could support herself and a litter of puppies without problems.
Esperansa went First Place again the second day under Breeder Judge Richard Lawrence, and on the third day she went second place. It truly was a wonderful weekend and launched
a wonderful and exciting show career & experience for all of us.
I've included some of her photos and now we only need her majors for her to be finished. She took time out to have a litter of puppies for me but now she's ready to get right back into the ring and Go For IT Again. We're a great team, Esperansa, Danny and Me. Thanks Carl for this wonderful and beautiful little friend. We love her. |
